For users of any operating system on a laptop or a desktop.

 

Overview

This is a basic workshop for anybody who is interested in learning how to create a website using the Joomla! 3.6 platform.

Prerequisites

Participants can bring their own laptop or use one of the Learning Centre computers.

You will need:

  • Your own webmail account - (bring the username and remember your password).
  • Reasonable computer skills, including accessing the web and email.
  • Basic word processing skills - editing, formatting, copy and paste, etc.
  • Keenness to learn about website development
  • Enjoyment of problem-solving
  • Organisational ability

Learning Objectives

You will learn:

  • Why Content Management Systems are used.
  • How to build a simple personal website using the latest version of Joomla!
    Joomla! is an easy-to-use, flexible and extendable content management system (CMS).
  • How to register with Cloudaccess.net at no cost.
    CloudAccess.net offers a comprehensive web hosting and support platform for the Joomla CMS, including free tutorials. 
  • Where to find self-learning resources.
  • You will also have the opportunity to contribute to a real website (SeniorNet Nelson).
