Overview

This is a hands-on course. Millions of people use Skype to keep in touch with friends and families wherever they are in the world. Nothing beats actually seeing that person on the other end of the connection. Skype allows you to communicate with other Skype users free of charge; it allows you to send and receive text messages, talk and have video calls.

Prerequisites

All you need is a computer or mobile device connected to the internet via broadband or a cellular connection. Not suitable for dial-up!

Learning Objectives

  • Know how to download, install, or update Skype
  • Create a Skype name and password
  • Understand the features of the Skype main screen
  • Make a test call to check sound quality
  • Appreciate the risks of giving too much detail in your Profile
  • Add Skype contacts
  • Make voice calls and video calls to other Skype users
  • Send messages and use “chat” in Skype
  • Learn how to have Skype Credit to allow calls to landlines or mobiles
