Overview:
This is a a basic starter course for people completely new to Android Smartphones.
Prerequisites:
To take this course you must have first downloaded the free App “Starting Blocks' and practised with it to ensure you can use your touch screen well enough to participate.
To obtain the App “Starting Blocks” you need to know the password of your Google account.
(If you have a Gmail account you already have a Google account – they are the same thing.)
If you don't have already have a Google account and need help to get one you need to go to the workshop which teaches you how to Create a Google Account & will also show you how to download “Starting Blocks” to your device.
You then need to practise with Starting Blocks before taking the Android Smartphone Basic course.
Learning Objectives
- To learn the difference between Native apps (those that come with your phone), and the Apps that you install yourself by connecting to the internet
- Contacts – To Add Contacts names, phone numbers and email addresses. To Save and Store Contacts.
- To Send Texts and Receive Texts. Edit and Delete Texts.
- Use your Smartphone to make a Phone call and Receive a Phone call. To end a phone call and cancel a call.
- Understand the basic difference between networks Cellular (Mobile) –v- Broadband (Fixed) - and when and how you are using them.
- Understanding the choices of how you pay to use your mobile phone. Prepaid –v- Payment Plan.
- To Power your Phone off. To turn your phone to Flight mode.
