Overview

This course covers many essential operations for keeping your computer in working order. It will heavily support Windows 10 computer management, whilst still being relevant to Windows 7 and Vista. 

Prerequisites

This course is for the more experienced user of computers.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the components of a computer
  • Cleaning of the monitor, keyboard and internal parts
  • Methods of removing unwanted programs and cleaning out surplus or unwanted files
  • Learning how to do Disc Clean, and to Defragment the hard drive
  • Setting a Restore Point, and understanding the purpose of System Restore
  • The need for and installation of an antivirus program; configuring and running antivirus
  • Security issues and protection from spam and malware
  • Importance of saving records to "media" such as an external hard drive
  • Help available from various sources – Microsoft help forum; TeamViewer
  • Access to "cloud" storage and various methods available for this.
