Overview

A USB Flash Drive is a small, portable flash memory card that plugs into a computer and functions as a portable hard drive. They store data like documents and photographs and are used to transfer information between computers or other devices with a USB port. They are touted as being easy-to-use as they are small enough to be carried in a pocket and can plug into any computer with a USB drive. USB flash drives also known just as flash drives, or as thumb drives, jump drives, pen drives, key drives, or memory sticks.

Prerequisites

  • Basic computer and word processing skills
  • You will of course, need to bring a flash drive with you!

Learning Objectives

You will learn to:

  • Rename your Flash Drive for easy recognition.
  • Scan your flash drive for viruses
  • Save files (documents & photographs) to your flash drive
  • Open and edit documents from your flash drive
  • Delete files from your flash drive
  • Remove your flash drive safely from your computer.
