I‘m a recently returned Nelsonian, very happy to be back and pleased to have found SeniorNet within my first couple of months back thanks to a compelling Mudcakes and Roses article. Said article included a cover shot of 'techy' people, my age, invitingly lined up at a bank of computers, plus an impassioned plea from Graeme Valpy for interested people to join as tutors.

My job for the last 15 years had been with the Australian Government Solicitor in Adelaide (the job had been advertised as a 6 month contract back in 1998). My role there had the unwieldy title of Business and Information Training and Field Service officer. Roughly translated, this meant that I trained all the Adelaide lawyers and support staff how to get around the equipment and software the IT Centre in Canberra thought fit to give us from time to time. I was also general IT trouble-shooter on the ground in Adelaide.

When I read the M & R article I knew SeniorNet could be a second home for me (a bit of an exaggeration, maybe, but never mind). So I‘m tutor-in-training; learning from the experts; very much enjoying the 'seniors‘ I‘m meeting in classes; and open to what comes next for me at SeniorNet – perhaps developing an intro to iPhone course.

In other news about me: I very proudly have 3 grandchildren in Australia and 7 stepgrandchildren here in Nelson; I‘d like to continue my BA majoring in History and I‘m looking into doing that remotely online; I thoroughly enjoy tramping (although tramping huts don‘t hold as much pleasure for me these days); and I have a dream to walk the Camino de Santiago from France to Spain.
