Help and Practice Sessions
A service for current financial members of SeniorNet Nelson.
Help and Practice is from 2pm to 4pm on the first and third Friday of the month.
You have a free half hour - drop in any time between 2 and 3.30pm
$5 contribution toward overheads please.
The next Help Session is on Friday 1st April at 2 pm in the Hall at the front of the building
Help is available for queries and problems concerning Apple Macs and PCs with Microsoft Operating Systems: Windows Vista and Windows 7 and 10. We also help with Android tablets, iPads and other devices. Everyone is most welcome. Entry is via the Hall main door - please sign in and wear your badge.
Arrive any time between 2pm and 3.30pm and bring your queries to our helpers. We are obliged to limit each member's time to half an hour. No question is too basic to ask - we have all been there! Experienced members will be on hand to help you.
It is also an opportunity to practise your computer skills on the Learning Centre's computers with help nearby. Bring along your manual and hone your skills.
All our computers are connected to the internet. Wireless internet connection is available for laptops and other wireless devices. Charge your device before coming or bring a power cord if your battery is unreliable! We look forward to helping you with computing difficulties. We don't have all the answers but usually we can point you in the right direction.
Here's a message to all members from Convener Doreen Burr: "Regular Help Sessions (on the first and third Friday afternoons of each month) continue to be popular. Thanks are due to all our faithful helpers. Two helpers each for Windows and Mac computers are rostered on for each session, but we are always grateful for others who generously give their time more frequently. Some members arrive with fairly simple problems so we welcome helpers of all abilities. The more able helpers are sometimes challenged as they gather round a curly problem – but, between them, they usually solve it! If you have any ability you are welcome to join our happy band of helpers and also learn with us! Come along and see for yourself........."

If the date is not suitable you should be able to swap to another date with someone on the Roster - and tell a convener please.
We ask those rostered on to be at the rooms at 1.30pm to assist setting up chairs, tables etc, before 2pm when people start arriving. As you help a member, please write a brief comment in the record book & try to limit your time with one person to 30mins, especially if there are others waiting for help.
Before leaving, help replace chairs & tables as found, turn off lights & heaters, put away tea things & tidy kitchen etc. If you are unable to attend a session, please swap with someone else on the Roster and let a Convener know who your substitute is.
We rely on exra helpers, and are extremely grateful to those who continue to turn up to most sessions. Anyone who can come, even for part of the time, is most welcome.
