Procedures for the Maintenance & Technical Convenor

  • Convenes the Maintenance & Technical Group, who are responsible for maintaining and repairing all SeniorNet equipment.
  • Recommends replacement or updating as required.
  • Records installations, loans and repairs.
  • Organises maintenance of the computers on a regular schedule, involving security checks, updating of software, including operating system software.
  • Installs any software required by tutors.
  • Prepares a technical manual to inform all parties of the requirements for operation of computers in the Learning Centre.
  • Provides adequate support for tutors who experience problems during their teaching.
  • Supervises the network operations which allow printing and storage of course notes and other records.

 

Systems Administration Function

The integrity of the Learning Centre systems is of prime importance. 

  • This means that regular audits will detect the non-SeniorNet use of computers, and will be brought to the attention of Management Committee.
  • Any apparent breach of security and privacy of SeniorNet property and data will also be brought to the attention of Management Committee.

In this role these pertain to Systems Administration installation/support

  • Learning Centre and Administration Office equipment.
  • SNAP systems administration (not the user functionality).
  • ISP systems administration.
  • Mail systems administration (not the user functionality).
  • Ricoh printer systems administration: setup functions (not the user functions).
  • Windows Bulk Activation: systems administration as pertaining to SeniorNet Nelson.
  • Website: systems administration (not the website design).
  • Internet Services/fibre provider/specifications: systems administration.
  • SNAP Administrators systems administration ie: the systems of the SNAP management area to assure the integrity and backup of data for both disaster recovery and audit purposes.
  • Creates and updates necessary documents: Maintenance Schedule   Possible Problems Sheet   Problems Flow Chart  Schematic: Comms & Gear Hall  Hall A/V Layout
  • Reports to Management Committee monthly

Reports to: Management Committee
Liaises with: Management Committee, Maintenance and Technical Group Members, Administration Officers, Tutors, Interest Group Convenors, Members and guests.
